I need to no where this ring comes from and what year is it ?
I have a ruby & diamond ring heart shape ring.
The hallmarks inside say PJ.next to that there U upside down
with a line under it, with a square punch mark. Next to that is 585 then an old fashioned V in a square punch mark, Has any one any idea.thanks Penny.
The first initials usually refer to the manufacturers (or sponsors) initials. 14 carat gold is hallmarked 585, the assay office where it was validated as 14 ct usually comes next, although I can't find reference to an Assay office in the UK with the 'V' that you mention.
