i pierced my cartilage now its red and puffy...?
i pierced my own cartilage 2 days ago i know this was stupid and risky. i used a clean needle to do it. today i realized the earing wasn't sterling silver so i switched it (hurt like crap) and cleaned it with alcohol. now its red, puffy, throbbing, and painful. what should i do.
Sterling silver is not appropriate for long-term wear, especially not for a fresh piercing. It will tarnish in your ear and discolor the skin. You need surgical steel or titanium.
You are not supposed to put alcohol on a piercing, all it does is irritate the open wound.
Your best bet is to take the jewelry out, wash it with antibacterial soap and get it re pierced by a professional piercer once it heals.
