Is it possible to get diseases from pierced earrings?
I cleaned them with alcohol, but I worry about contracting HIV or Hepatitis from new earrings that other people have tried on.
if you share something that has a potential for dried blood on it, yes.

things that are known as infectious are HIV, HBV, HCV....
if you borrow someones earrings and it has blood on it and you have an opened wound (infection of the earring hole) you can get a disease. Although the chances are probably low, it is possible and you should always follow through with cleansing and sterilizing anything you put in your earlobe, nose, tongue, belly button and all the other places you are pierced.
The answer simply put is YES you can get diseases this way.
