I know it sounds lame but my friends threw me a surprise BBQ.
Anyway, i was wondering if i should wear black top and black shorts with lots of coloured jewelry?
Or
Should i wear a bright top with black shorts and bright jewelry?
I'm not very fashionable and on the large side so black really suits me.
Or have you got any other ideas?

black is a big no-no for a summer, day-time party. That would be a big fashion mistake.
I suggest you put on a nice cotton dress with cute sandals.
Or you can wear jean shorts with a nice tank top or any other top that you like!!
