need help on Halloween costume, I need a jewelry maker, or something?
Hi, I know its early but this costume is turning out to be a bigger project then what I thought. I am going to be Tim Burton's Willy Wonka, and I almost have it finished. But there is a big problem. I cannot find the "W" brooch/pin he wears on his collar, and its driving me up the wall. I tried buying one from Sith Camaro the costume maker, but he tried to scam me from my money. I found someone else explaining how they made one:
"I have to talk for just a quick second about the W brooch. It's not very apparent on Johnny Depp above, but he does wear a brooch throughout the movie. So the big question was, how would I get a brooch? On eBay there were some replicas going for $60 each, but there was no way I was going to buy one of those (even though they did look spot on). What I ended up doing is making my brooch with polymer clay. It cost only $2 and I just had to cut out the W and then bake it (making sure to put some string holes on the back for a piece of black string to go through to make it into a necklace). It was the first time I'd ever used polymer clay (the two most common brands are Fimo and Sculptey, I used the latter). I was quite proud of the outcome."
