I need to find out how old my antique sewing machine is.?
I found a brass plate on the right hand corner of the sewing machine with M 973244 on it. When i looked it up, there are no serial numbers with the letter M or wit 973244.
I am interested in learning the History and facts about this machine.
Please respond and let me know about it.
maybe there is somewhere else on the machine that has more numbers. This is a Singer Treadle all black with green, gold a12 caw,and white flowers that almost look lik a bell shape on the black.
Thank you whitterkae@yahoo.com
I'd call Singer and ask (1-800-4-singer). There are some M numbers, but the list on the Singer website only goes to M327109, and all of the M machines were made in Kilbowie, Clydebank, Scotland. Could that be other than an M??
Here's how to find the actual serial number: http://singerco.com/support/model_number.html
and the charts of number vs commissioning date:
