How do I drill/punch holes in metal? Brass/Nickel/Etc.?
I make jewelry using spent bullet shells and sheet of brass, etc. How do I go about getting clean holes in them?
I've tried drilling, where I would make an indentation with the tip of a nail, and drill through it, but it never goes all the way through, and I end up having to hammer the nail the rest of the way through, which leaves a jagged edge, and a not so pretty, or accurate hole.
Do I need a special bit? Different drill? Is there some sort of a metal hole punch? How do people do this?
use a sharp small nail punch and tap the brass, then drill the hole. You don't have to go through the material, the nail set just keeps the drill bit from sliding away from where you want to drill. Then drill through the material
